How to Make More Aggressive Hard Techno Screeches in Serum 2

Here are the fast ways to make more aggressive hard techno screeches.

My notes from this Short

01

Lorenz chaos and super detune

I put LFO 1 on the Lorenz chaos mode, in hertz, at 100 times ten for 1000. I use it on the coarse pitch and take the amount down a bit. This adds screechy character.

Then 16 voices with a lot of detune. I take down the phase randomization for a more old school effect, and the width as well. Change the detune mode to super and increase the range, which makes the outer voices very detuned but the middle ones not as much.

02

An EQ in front of every distortion

I use an envelope to modulate the pitch. Then I add multiple stages of distortion, with equalizers in front of every stage to really shape the sound.

The FX chain: an EQ, Diode 2, another EQ, Tube and Hardclip.
03

Upward compression and a reverb filter

For the final processing I use a compressor or multiband without downwards compression and open the ratio. This adds an in-your-face character and more brightness to the screech.

Finally, use interesting filters like the reverb filter, with a low cutoff and the mix taken down.
