My notes from this Short
Phase distortion from a silent sine
I use oscillator B with no volume on a sine wave two octaves lower than my main one, and phase distort oscillator A on B.

Odd filters and a weird chaos knob
In front of the heavy distortion, use interesting filters. Combs, all pass and reverb at a low setting are great. Open some panning and take down the mix. You can also use multiple stages of distortion, another diode, with some shaping in between.
Another great trick is a chaos LFO with a high rate on a knob that moves very weirdly, like this extra reverb filter in the low range. Add it on a very small amount and increase the rate as you go.
Two multiband compressors
Something that makes any screech stand out is the mix. Use two multiband compressors and move one in front of the first distortion. Add some compression ratio to the below and some gain. On the final one, take down all the downwards compression and add some ratio. This adds the character I see a lot of screeches lacking, so they really hit through the mix.
