Quick tip

How to Make an Acid Techno Preset in Serum

For acid techno presets I immediately start off with a saw wave and the Bend+ warp mode.

My notes from this Short

01

A saw wave bent with Bend+

I start off with the basic shapes, a saw wave, set the warp mode to Bend+ and just bend it. Then I take envelope 2 and shape it. It's very important.

02

A German low pass from 120 hertz

In the filter section I want the German low pass. I completely squash the drive, add resonance and make it start at around 120 hertz.

Envelope 2 is added slightly, and then I add envelope three, a little bit shorter, on top of it.

The German LP, cutoff at 118 Hz.
03

Stompbox and velocity on the cutoff

I take distortion, put it on Stompbox, completely squash the drive and put it on mono. Make sure the velocity is mapped to the cutoff, so it responds to whatever is happening in the piano roll.

Feel free to add some reverb and delay, and a compressor with a low threshold to make it snappy.
