Quick tip

How to Get an Analog Feel in Serum

For an analog feel, I first play around with the randomization of the phase, the unison and the detune.

My notes from this Short

01

Phase randomization, unison and detune

First of all, I play around with the randomization of the phase, the unison and the detune. Having it around these ranges gives you that laser-y, nice analog attack in your synths. Also play around with the width.

02

Chaos 1 on the panning and fine tune

Next, I add Chaos 1 on the panning and take down the amount, just to make it a little bit more random. You can do the same thing on the fine tune.

03

Noise, a German low pass and chorus

Then I add the noise oscillator with something like Arp White, and play around with the filters. I take a German low pass or a French low pass and add an envelope with a little bit of release.

Finally, I add a chorus and put it in the background.
