How to Make the Punch for Industrial Techno Kicks

Everyone is making industrial techno, but not a lot of people know how to make industrial techno kicks the right way.

My notes from this Short

01

Kick and noise through a Bend Notch filter

All I need is a punchy kick and a noise layer on top that's detuned, and I control the length of the punch. Both go to a filter, like the Bend Notch 12, with the drive open.

Then that filter goes into an all-pass filter that smears it out. Drive, mix down, cutoff low, and add resonance.

02

Stacked sine shapers with a peak in front

The most important effect is sine shapers. I add an EQ in front and really boost the peak, then control the output with the length of the punch. You can stack these sine shapers.

After that I add some reverb, like the vintage one, and control the mix with a shape. Then all you need is a rumble.

The EQ boosts a peak at 877 Hz, right in front of the sine shaper.
