How to Make a Widening Pluck Effect in Serum

I found a really cool trick in Serum. The shorter you play the note, the more you get this widening effect, and it adds so much character to the sound.

My notes from this Short

01

A delay with zero feedback

I add a filter with LFO automation. The cool thing happens when I add Hyper/Dimension.

Then a delay with zero feedback, so it can only hit one time, and a chorus to widen it up.

Serum FX rack for a widening pluck effect: Hyper/Dimension and distortion on, and a 1/8 delay with the feedback at 0%
Delay feedback at 0%, so it only hits one time.
02

Note length sets the width

The shorter you play the note, the less this thing can become a pluck. That's why a short note sounds very wide, but if you play it longer it gets cut off into a pluck.

Try adding this effect to your leads.
