How to Make a Techno Rumble Kick From a Top Kick Roll

Techno producers, if you're struggling with your rumbles, add this trick and it will always sound good.

My notes from this Short

01

Four quarter notes of a top kick

I find a top kick, duplicate it and put four quarter notes like this. Then I double click the second one and automate the volume, so it opens up.

02

Muffled reverb with a mono sub

Add both of them to the mixer with 100% reverb. Take an equalizer and muffle the highs, then another one to make sure the sub is mono: stereo placement on side, and select the sub.

A low cut on the side, so the sub stays mono.
03

Low pass, volume and note length

Grab both of these and put them in one channel. Add a soft clipper and open that up, then add an inflator.

Now play around with the low pass and the volume to create a different drive, or with the length between each note.
