Quick tip

How to Upgrade Rave Generator Stabs in Serum

Get those cheesy techno stabs to the next level with Rave Generator and Serum.

My notes from this Short

01

Render the stab into the noise oscillator

I get Rave Generator and the T992 preset and render it. Then I drag and drop the render into the noise oscillator of Serum.

Put it on one shot mode and keyboard tracking, and turn on mono legato.

02

Stompbox, flanger and a wide chorus

Distortion on Stompbox mode, a flanger with the mix down and Hyper/Dimension on 20%. Add a chorus at 16,000 hertz with the mix and the depth down. Now we have a really wide stab.

Then a compressor in multiband mode, take down the threshold and take down the highs and the mids. Add an EQ and put LFO 1 in envelope mode on the frequency, just to get a little bit of movement.

03

The render as a wavetable

Drag and drop the same waveform on top of the oscillator and import it with constant frame size. Take LFO 1, which is an envelope, and put it on the wavetable position.

Put it two octaves down, combine the two and we have a very cool stab.
