How to Use Wave Shaper Modes on Techno Kicks

These are the effects a wave shaper can have on your techno kicks.

My notes from this Short

01

Normal distortion and half sine

The first one I show is the most basic one, normal distortion. The second one is half sine, which makes it an inflator. It adds more power without distorting it too much, so really try this one out.

02

Stairs mode with the mix down

The third one: put it on stairs mode, which makes it the bit munched preset. It adds more crisp and character to your kicks, as long as you don't overdo it. You can set it like this and take down the mix.

03

Distort one half of the waveform

My favorite one is asymmetrical distortion. Put it on bipolar mode and only distort one half of the waveform, the bottom half or the top half. I add this for more crunch in my kicks.

Fruity WaveShaper curve for a hard techno kick: the bottom half stays straight and only the top half is bent, for asymmetrical distortion
Only the top half of the waveform gets bent.
